Not quite a dash but pretty fun to play with.
I ran across this called Dasher which offers up a new way of typing using a mouse or your eyeball. Its difficult to explain how it works but here is a gif from their site that does the job just fine.
Its pretty fun but it does take a long time to type things out. Plus your eyes are fixed on the window the entire time. It does give you the feeling that you are burrowing into your monitor, digging out the words you are looking for. A feelling that touch typing should be able to give you but doesn't. Hmph. Its free so go get it.
