Well that Tivo thing that I posted about seems to work all right but for some reason it picked up this video:
I’m guessing that this came from the Netherlands, because, from what I hear, Santa Claus is accompanied by 8-12 black people who up until the 60's used to be his slaves and are now just friends over there. I’m basing all this information on something I heard from David Sedaris. Perhaps Fatbot you could tell us if this is in fact Dutch. I think its interesting that they didn’t have any actual black people helping Santa but a bunch of people in black face. I'm not even going to touch any sort of ethics on this one, but yes, in the Netherlands their Sinter Klaas has servants in blackface. Apparently his historical counterpart was a bishop during the crusades and brought back some handy Moorish helpers. Since the dutch tend to be rather blond, paint and fright wigs were called in- yes, Zwarte Piet (Black Peter) always has a tiny afro under his hat. I'll tell you I did all sorts of an outraged double take the first time I saw someone in blackface on the street though.
